Community Building and Service

Serving as a member of the Biola PRSSA Chapter Events Committee (2014) and then Vice President (2015-2016) helped me hit the ground running with basic public relations work in my early years of college. We won the bid to host a National PRSSA Regional Conference, increased membership engagement by 43%, hosted a more diverse variety of PR workshops and community-oriented events, and more. As Vice President, I managed Chapter development, general membership, press and internal communications, event management and client relations. These responsibilities heightened my team-oriented, details-focused and strategic skills in client relations.

2015 PRSSA WESTERN REGIONAL CONFERENCE

Biola PRSSA won the National PRSSA bid for hosting the 2015 Western Regional Conference.

After much research, creative and strategic planning, and collaborative hard work, Biola PRSSA hosted a successful, two-day event with over 100 attendees from five surrounding schools, gaining mentions in CSUN's PRSSA website and OCPRSA's blog.

I had the privilege of being a part of the event management team, and assisted with promotion, registration, decorating and overall operation.

For promotional purposes, we created a personal website, Facebook page, and personal Twitter hashtag.

CHApter mixers & workshops

I sought to provide exclusive, interactive, engaging and informative events for our members. This included pre-professional topics like resume writing, workshops by career center specialists, holiday mixers, and team building exercises.

As Vice President, I provided key information to the event coordinators in order to better strategically reach out audiences (including SWOT analysis. This involved surveys, rewards incentives, interviews, focus groups and polls.

With community building and Chapter development in mind, I oversaw the messaging and engagement with Chapter members surrounding events, instructing the Executive board with example outreach emails, initiating a program to be used throughout events, and press called the "Member Moment". Every event's promotion involved graphic design (for creating info graphics, posters and flyers) and social media (Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat).

To ensure consistent branding and messaging, I initiated a standardized newsletter including Chapter highlights, event information. advice from a faculty member, and more.

chapter fundraisers

Fundraising was crucial for our Chapter’s growth. As Vice President, I worked with the President and Events Director to plan and operate several fundraisers throughout the year.

From beginning to end, I led our team with the mission to benefit both our members and the audience we were reaching. This involved every aspect of R.P.I.E. and mission alignment for both members and our audiences.

Calculating finances, evaluating membership and growth, and standardizing processes included the need to create agendas and record the minutes.
