Government Relations & Advocacy
The Recording Academy strives to “Help Music and Its Makers Thrive”, a mission which closely paired with my personal mission and purpose. As a musician myself, I discovered a passion in advocating for fellow musicians and the music industry through government relations “Grammy Advocacy” and event participation in the annual Grammy Week.
Grammys In My school
From 2015-2018, I actively led and participated in the management of the "Grammy’s in My School" night of Grammy’s Week. On this night, The Recording Academy invites hundreds of middle school students from more impoverished school districts around the Greater Los Angeles Area, and involves them in on-stage music competitions, meet-and-greets with celebrity musicians, and educational workshops led my professionals in the music industry.

This leadership responsibility involved planning and attendance at Recording Academy board meetings in downtown Los Angeles, communication with team members leading up to the day, leading the meeting and presentation with the government official, and promotion and follow-up via social media and email.
grammy u workshops

This role included public speaking, recruiting, and managing attendance of students at special events (like a Nick Jonas' one-on-one meet-up, Garrett Born's acoustic workshop, and Ester Dean's Q&A).
Throughout this time as a Grammy U Ambassador, I discovered the lack of outreach or interest in private schools (often faith-based universities), and after thorough research, pitched a program expansion plan to The Recording Academy board. Upon its approval, I led outreach efforts to represent the Society to four new surrounding schools in Southern California. The Society continues to expand its
